Archaeological survey progresses

The archaeological survey is well under way at Llangattock Recreation Ground.  Archaeologists from Black Mountains Archeology are inspecting the ground after Llangattock-based contractor, Land and Stone, have lifted the turf along the route of an accessible path the community council wants to build on the site.  The path passes Gan Goch, a Scheduled Ancient Monument and burial tomb, hence the need for the cautious approach.  Schoolchildren will be invited to visit the dig later this week and will be shown a selection of artefacts found at sites like this.  You can read more about Garn Goch here https://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=4053
